Evenflo
Project
Miamisburg, Ohio
Project Scope
Evenflo came to Workspace
Authority with a reasonable budget and a tight timeline
to furnish a new 48,000 square foot facility, then
coordinate and manage the relocation of 202 employees
and a second phase Prototype Model Shop to follow in
three months. Liquidation
of their existing Haworth Places product was also priority
in adding back to the bottom line to free up funds
for spending on enhancing the new facility.
Challenges
Initial contact made to Workspace
Authority on 2.26.08 with move in / start up date of
5.5.08. The purchase of the old Huffy building
in Miamisburg, Ohio required renovations that would
definitely put WSA in the space with furniture delivery at
the same time the contractors were to be finishing
the space. Furniture had to be decided upon quickly
and get ordered to make the ship dates, along with
a streamline relocation management and transition team
coordination. The existing location required
full clean out and broom sweeping before being turned
over to the landlord. Workspace Authority is
headquartered in Atlanta, GA. Evenflo is in Vandalia,
Ohio.
Successes
Workspace Authority teamed up with
Evenflo's Facility Coordinators and Chief Operations
Officer to hold furniture specification 'team' meetings,
in conjunction with weekly relocation and furniture
installation conference calls conducted by WSA for
open communication and Q&A sessions. Evenflo
decided on Paoli private office furniture in conjunction
with Remanufactured Herman Miller A02 systems furniture. All
coordination yielded a 'full' success with 200+ employees
relocated with all voice, data and power capabilities
on Day 1. Workspace Authority's post move trauma team
was set up to iron out issues for two days after the
move and the space was turned over in full operational
capacity on Wed. May 7, 2008.

American Megatrends Project
Atlanta, Georgia
Scope
American Megatrends came to
Facilitec and Workspace Authority with a tight budget
and a need for 120 workstations to be delivered and
installed within a six week time frame, in addition
to relocation of all existing personnel from origin
to destination in Atlanta, GA.
Challenges
After reviewing several 'new' and
'remanufactured' options with American Megatrends,
it became apparent that only Pre-owned As-Is furniture
would fit the bill. The budget was $150,000 to
fully furnish two separate corridors in this 43,000
sq. ft. facility and come up with another solution
to retrofit existing build in dry wall partitions left
in the building by the previous tenant.
Successes
Workspace Authority tapped in to its
nationwide database of pre-owned furniture dealers
and began the search for a solution. Workspace
Authority had been awarded the liquidation services
for HomeBanc and Allconnet. This was a 'match'. The
final (90) HomeBanc Teknion TOS stations fit perfectly
for American Megatrends engineering department, while
Allconnect's Teknion Transit fit the administrative
wing with some minor retrofitting and ordering of 'new'
components. HMU product was deployed for the
built in partitions using wall mounted installation
with cantilevered worksurfaces. Budget was met
allowing American Megatrends enough room to by all
new seating for each station.

Habitat for
Humanity / Facilitec
Atlanta and Americus, GA
Scope
Habitat for Humanity
retains a global environmental mindset that allows
the minimizing of their 'footprint' to be at the forefront
of most decisions made. Purchasing furniture for
their locations is certainly an arena for them to showcase
this 'global' mindset. Facilitec and Workspace
Authority were given the assignment of finding an environmentally
conscious solution to the corporate headquarters ,
soon followed by the first of many satellite offices
in Americus , GA.
Challenges
Habitat for Humanity, like most larger
entities, had to have time to make critical decisions
and processing the myriad of options provided by the
Facilitec / Workspace Authority team would not be easy
and had to be a monitored process for the time line
in place. With a nine week lead time out ahead
of construction, also being managed by Facilitec, the
clock was ticking. While Facilitec would man
the helm on the Atlanta front, Workspace Authority
hit the country to search and procure a pre-owned solution
to fit the need.
Successes
Workspace Authority was able to tap
in to a Nationwide Cisco liquidation happening at the
time. First flying to Houston, TX, then procuring product
from Overland Park, KS and Denver, CO. This allowed
Habitat for Humanity to receive a solid solution of
Teknion TOS and Transit that didn't exactly fit their
need. Creativity kicked in and Facilitec was able
to add height enhancing stackers and anchored door
jams to the construction giving Habitat for Humanity
a solid outcome while minimizing their environmental
footprint in doing so.
